Artevento, Cervia, Italy

Artevento is much more than simply a festival of kites. The event attracts international fliers from over 20 countries and presents a wonderful combination of wind, kites, sun, food and wine with an emphasis on sky art.

We were invited guests in April 2012. For eleven days colourful kites, banners and wind structures filled the beach at Pinarella di Cervia. On one evening 'La Notte dei Miracoli' is held when candle-lit installations are constructed on the beach, kites and music fill the night sky.

Kite making workshops are held each day in the beach marquee with local school children. The event is organised by Claudio Capelli and his daughter Caterina.

With so many familiar faces amongst over 200 kite fliers for us it felt like two weeks in the company of an extended family - a relaxing and very enjoyable experience.

Our visits to Cervia have continued in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
